Become a Wheat Research Technician at the University of Saskatchewan, focusing on breeding improved durum and spring wheat varieties. Engage in practical research tasks with a dedicated team. This full time, two-year term position requires you to assist in breeding program activities, including nursery maintenance and sample management.
Experience with data collection and operation of small plot equipment is essential. Flexibility in work hours, especially during the growing season, and the capability to lift 25 kg are mandatory. A valid class 5 license is required for travel outside the Saskatoon area. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in breeding program and nursery establishment
Maintain and harvest samples as needed
Operate plot tractors, seeders, and sprayers
Carry out data collection and organization tasks
Communicate effectively with research team members Requirements:
Undergraduate degree or diploma in agriculture
Field research experience in plant breeding
Proficient in MS-Excel® and database software
Excellent mechanical skills preferred
