Our client is a well-established, community-focused non-profit organization committed to improving quality of life through a diverse range of programs and services. The organization is seeking an experienced Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of a growing Finance function.
Reporting to the senior leadership team, the Finance Director will play a key role in financial planning, reporting, budgeting, compliance, and organizational decision-making. This is an excellent chance for a hands-on finance leader who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment and partnering across an organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the Finance and Accounting function, including a team of approximately 7–10 employees
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the senior leadership team and support organizational decision-making
- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, financial statements, and management reporting
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and non-profit reporting obligations
- Manage cash flow, financial controls, and risk management processes
- Oversee the annual audit and liaise with external auditors and other professional advisors
- Develop and improve financial policies, processes, controls, and reporting systems
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support program planning and organizational growth
- Partner with operational leaders to monitor budgets, identify variances, and improve financial performance
- Support funding, grant, and other financial reporting requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team
Qualifications:
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership experience
- Experience managing and developing a finance/accounting team
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
- Non-profit or charitable sector experience is considered a strong asset
- Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on when required
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of integrity and professionalism
