The Cost Consultant will support the delivery of cost management, contract administration, and lender advisory services on food-sector manufacturing and processing facilities across Ontario. The Cost Consultant will work as part of a multidisciplinary consulting team providing independent, technically grounded advice to owners, lenders, and project stakeholders. Projects typically include new-build and retrofit factories involving civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical (CSME) works, with a strong emphasis on process-driven MEP systems, utilities, and compliance-critical environments.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Consulting & EstimatingPrepare and review detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for food manufacturing and industrial projectsPrice and validate civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process-related scopesReview contractor bids, trade pricing, and procurement strategies for accuracy and market alignmentMonitor project costs against approved budgets and advise clients on cost risks and mitigation strategiesLender Advisory & Bank’s Representative ServicesAct as the Bank’s Representative / Lender’s Technical Advisor on financed food-sector construction projectsReview construction budgets, schedules, and contracts for lender complianceConduct site inspections to verify construction progress and qualityCertify monthly progress claims and recommend financial drawdownsPrepare clear, defensible reports addressing cost-to-complete, risks, and overall project statusContract AdministrationAdminister construction contracts in accordance with Ontario construction practicesReview and certify progress payments, statutory holdbacks, and final accountsAssess change orders, extras, and claims related to scope changes, schedule impacts, or unforeseen conditionsSupport clients through contract interpretation and dispute avoidanceProject Delivery & CollaborationCoordinate with internal engineering teams (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical)Liaise with owners,
