OverviewWe are currently looking for ASL Interpreters for a variety of academic disciplines. Candidates will be expected to attendin person classes at university/colleges in Mississaugaand surrounding regions. These service providers help students overcome barriers in class to succeed!ResponsibilitiesProvide interpreting and transliteration services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students, faculty, and staff in academic and non-academic settings, including classrooms, meetings, events, and activities, as requested by the university or collegeFollow ethical standards of the profession, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to the university or college 's policies and proceduresMaintain accurate and timely records of interpreting services provided, including timesheets, invoices, and other necessary documentationAttend required meetings and trainings, as specified by the university or collegeMaintain professional development by staying current with current developments and advancements in the field of ASL interpretationRequirementsAn active member of the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI)Minimum 2 year post-secondary diploma/degree from an accredited programAbility to match the diverse language use of consumersExperience with ASL Interpretation in an academic environmentSensitivity to the needs of people with disabilitiesAbility to analyze and process information quicklyAble to work independently—being on time,



dependable and able to meet deadlinesWe require a minimum commitment of one academic semester.
