Job Description3999 Henning Dr #305, Burnaby, BC V5C 6P7, CanadaJoin a team-oriented team that balances practical design with creative problem solving across complex, multidisciplinary building projects throughout Western Canada. Gain exposure to a wide range of structural systems, materials, and project types early in your career, including specialty structures in remote locations.This role is based in ourBurnabyoffice, supporting projects primarily across Western Canada and delivered in partnership with Building team members across all ISL offices.About the RoleAs a Junior / Intermediate Structural Engineer you will:Deliver structural designs from concept through detailed design, tender, and construction across a variety of building types and materials (mass timber, light‑frame wood, masonry, concrete, and steel)Collaborate with team members to produce coordinated, high‑quality structural deliverablesPerform designs independently, check design work of others and perform peer reviewsCoordinate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutionsParticipate in project meetings and contribute to technical discussions and decision‑makingComplete structural assessments and contribute to technical reports for existing buildings and structuresSupport construction administration activities,



including field reviews and travel to project sites as requiredMaintain quality assurance practices and documentation standards across all project phasesContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and team knowledge sharingStay current with industry trends, materials, and emerging technologiesSupport and collaborate with team members across ISL officesDevelop and utilize tools such as custom spreadsheets to improve efficiency and consistencySalary range: $75,000 to $125,000+ (dependent on experience and qualifications).Applicants with P.Eng. designation with EGBC or an equivalent Canadian/US designation are welcome; responsibilities will be tailored to experience level.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.Registration, or eligibility for registration, as an E.I.T.Minimum of 2 years of relevant local or international structural engineering experience.Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.G., Risa, S‑Frame, RFEM, WoodWorks Sizer or equivalent).Knowledge and application of structural theory, the National Building Code of Canada (NBC 2020), and Canadian Design Standards (O86, S16, A23.3).AssetsExperience with prefabrication of mass timber or light‑frame structures.Master’s degree in structural, seismic, or mass timber.Awareness of international codes and current research trends in structural engineering.What we offerHybrid work model.Employer‑paid benefits including health, dental and extensive paramedical services.Healthcare Spending and Lifestyle Option Accounts.Group RRSP.Parental leave top‑ups.Paid professional development opportunities and memberships.24/7/365 Employee Family Assistance program.#J-18808-Ljbffr
