Covenant House seeks a full time Street Outreach Worker in Downtown Toronto to support youth at risk of homelessness. Utilize trauma-informed approaches to provide vital assistance and connect them to needed services. This position focuses on engaging youth in outdoor and community settings, fostering trust and safety.
You will handle immediate crises, provide basic needs, and help with accessing long-term solutions like housing and education. Skilled boundaries and a robust commitment to their safety are essential in your interactions. Key Responsibilities:
Conduct outreach in various community areas including encampments
Build relationships with youth experiencing homelessness
Provide emergency food and hygiene support
Use harm reduction strategies for at-risk youth
Collaborate with local organizations for resources Requirements:
Diploma or degree in relevant human services field
2–3 years experience with homeless youth or similar populations
Ability to manage crisis situations effectively
Strong empathetic communication and relationship-building skills
