Canadian Specialty CastingsPRIMARY FUNCTIONPerforms routine preventative and predictive maintenance and repair procedures on company buildings, mechanical equipment, and utility systems as determined by their supervisor. Works in conjunction with other Maintenance Team Members to successfully resolve daily manufacturing issues. Maintenance Workers report to the Plant Supervisor.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Other duties may be assigned)Performs minor and major repairs to the building and equipmentPerforms preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis (inspects belts, checks fluid levels, greases bearings, seals, etc.)Repairs or replaces broken parts to ensure minimal unplanned downtime in assigned areasCalibrates and repairs pneumatic, hydraulic, servo-hydraulic and mechanical equipment, as well as pumps, transmissions, conveyors, packaging equipment, etc.Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklistsPerforms pipefitting work on systems according to good pipefitting practicePerforms sheet metal and other shop fabrication work as requiredPerforms millwright work as requiredRepairs refrigeration and heating equipmentMaintains records of scheduled maintenance proceduresTroubleshoots equipment problems and repairs them efficiently with minimal supervisionPerforms other work, including general housekeeping and shop cleaning, as assigned by supervisorCompletes all assigned work orders in an efficient mannerIdentifies PM requirements for assigned areasArranges for parts to be ordered and on-hand as required with help from supervisorIdentifies impending problems and advises supervisionInstalls and maintains electrical systems and componentsPerforms effective electrical troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repairs or substitutes damaged unitsSAFETY RESPONSIBILITIESKeeps work area clean and tidy, free from trip hazards and other safety hazardsReports workplace hazards to their supervisor or JHSC memberIf certified, operates cranes, forklifts, bobcats, and scissor lifts safely in accordance with company policiesIs familiar with all relevant workplace legislationReports all accidents, first aid incidents, and near missesABILITIES AND EXPERIENCETo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability:Proven ability to read parts lists and shop drawings, including hydraulic diagramsDemonstrated solid understanding of mechanisms and power transmission equipmentDemonstrated understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systemsAbility to work on induction furnaces is an assetAbility to operate typical shop equipment such as pipe threader, drill press, bandsaw, grinder, air tools, and other small shop tools as requiredBasic fabrication work skillsDemonstrated ability to solder, braze, torch‑cut, arc weld, and MIG weldDemonstrated knowledge of pipefitting, including use in hydraulics and pneumaticsAbility to make effective equipment modifications as required without supervision in order to return equipment to production statusExperience in industrial electrical systemsThorough knowledge of electrical safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelinesEDUCATIONGraduate of a certified trade school program with at least five (5)
