Senior Mechatronics EngineerDepartment:EngineeringEmployment Type:Full TimeLocation:Oakville, Ontario HQReporting To:Chinmay PangarkarCompensation:$110,000 - $135,000 / yearDescriptionAbout You:You are a hands‑on engineer who thrives at the intersection of mechanics, electronics, and software. You enjoy architecting and building complex electromechanical systems, then taking them all the way through integration, test, and iteration. You’re comfortable owning subsystems end to end—translating requirements into designs, running experiments, analyzing data, and turning findings into next‑generation improvements. You communicate clearly, collaborate well with cross‑functional partners, and are energized by working on a tightly integrated point‑of‑care diagnostic platform in a fast‑paced startup environment. What You’ll Do:Lead the design, development, and optimization of mechatronic subsystems for a point‑of‑care diagnostic instrument (e.G., motion control, actuators, sensors, fluidic handling mechanisms).Translate system and product requirements into detailed specifications, concepts, and prototypes for electromechanical assemblies.Own subsystem integration: bring together mechanical parts, electronics, and control software; debug, characterize, and iterate to achieve performance targets.Design and execute experiments to evaluate system performance, reliability, and manufacturability; analyze data and present clear conclusions and recommendations.Develop test fixtures, jigs, and tools to support development, verification, and troubleshooting.Create and maintain engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, test plans, and reports.Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware/software, assay, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are robust, testable,

and scalable.Support design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) and design‑for‑assembly (DFA) efforts, working with suppliers and internal teams to transition designs into production.Contribute to system‑level architecture discussions and design reviews, bringing a mechatronics perspective to tradeoffs and decisions.Mentor more junior engineers and help raise the bar on technical rigor, documentation, and best practices. What You’ll Need:B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or a related engineering discipline.Several years of experience (typically 5+ for B.Sc., 3+ for M.Sc.) developing and integrating mechatronic systems; experience in medical devices, diagnostics, robotics, or instrumentation is an asset.Strong proficiency in mechanical design (CAD, tolerance analysis, basic mechanics) and comfort working with actuators, sensors, and motion control components.Experience with control of electromechanical systems (e.G., motors, stages, valves), including working closely with firmware/software teams on control strategies.Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and translate results into design changes.Familiarity with common lab and test equipment (e.G., oscilloscopes, multimeters, force/position/temperature sensors).Strong documentation skills and experience generating engineering drawings, specifications,

and test reports.Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and deliver against timelines in a dynamic environment.Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of effective cross‑functional collaboration.Bonus points forExperience with fluid‑handling mechatronics (pumps, valves, microfluidic interfaces, reagent handling). Background in design controls, verification/validation, and risk analysis (e.G., FMEA) in a regulated environment.Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing, machining) and working with external fabricators or suppliers.Familiarity with basic scripting or data analysis tools (e.G., Python, MATLAB) to support test automation and data processing.Prior experience in a startup or high‑growth environment where processes and systems are evolving. An appreciation for puns and contributing to a collaborative, curious team culture. Why Join Us?Help design and build the mechatronic backbone of a current diagnostic platform—creating systems that move, sense, and control the core of our assays. You’ll work shoulder to shoulder with scientists, engineers, and operators, with a direct line of sight from your designs to instrument performance and patient impact. You’ll own meaningful subsystems, influence system architecture, and help shape how we prototype, test, and scale. As we grow, you’ll have room to deepen your technical expertise, mentor others, and play a key role in bringing next‑generation diagnostics to life.Compensation will be determined based on the individual’s demonstrated experience, education, training, relevant certifications or licensure, and other applicable business and organizational factors. This role is a current, onsite vacancy.#J-18808-Ljbffr
