Reporting directly to our VP, Accounting, this role will focus heavily on technical accounting, financial reporting, and driving key initiatives such as our ASPE to IFRS conversion.A Note on LocationThis is a hybrid role based in Toronto, with the preference for being on-site once per week. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada, and live within reasonable commuting distance of our Toronto office for in person meetings.The OpportunityWe’re hiring a Manager, External Reporting to play a critical role in scaling our Accounting function during a period of rapid growth and transformation.This is an individual contributor role where you will lead key technical accounting initiatives, own complex financial reporting matters, and act as a central coordinator (“quarterback”) across our auditors, external advisors, and internal stakeholders.This role is ideal for someone looking to transition from public accounting into a high-impact AI industry position with strong ownership, visibility, and growth opportunities.What You’ll be DoingTechnical AccountingPartner closely with Blue J’s external technical accounting advisors to drive the ASPE to IFRS conversion. Work with advisors to identify and quantify key accounting differences, review technical accounting position papers, and draft first-time IFRS financial statementsResearch and assist with technical accounting matters, new pronouncements, and draft technical accounting policies while staying abreast of evolving accounting standards, regulatory changes, and industry best practicesOwn the year-end audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors. Ensure an efficient and well-controlled auditPrepare and review annual consolidated financial statements, note disclosures, and supporting schedulesTax ComplianceCollaborate closely with external tax advisors on sales tax,



income tax, and transfer pricing matters. Ensure that legal entity reporting and accounting for tax-related matters are properly reported and disclosedSupport regulatory and external reporting requirements across jurisdictions (e.G., review tax return filings)OtherContribute to the month-end close process as needed, including review of journal entries and accounting reconciliationsPartner with Finance leadership to enhance reporting processes, controls, and systemsWhat You Offer Blue JCPA designation, ideally trained at a major public accounting firmMinimum of 3+ years post qualification experience1-2 years of experience in a manager capacityStrong technical knowledge of IFRS, preferably in the technology industryExperience with complex accounting issues such as revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, financial instrumentsProven experience leading year-end audits and reviewing financial statementsDesire and curiosity to work with technical accounting advisors and tax advisorsSkilled communicator who can present complex technical topics simply and with clarityAble to work independently and interact collaboratively cross functionallyExperience in a SaaS or technology company is preferredFamiliarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a plusWhat We Offer YouA rare opportunity to build and shape the technical accounting function at a high-growth AI companyAn opportunity to transition from audit into an impactful industry roleA mission-driven culture where your work directly advances clarity, efficiency, and accessibility in tax researchWe’re well-funded and offer competitive base salaries and stock options.
