Job InformationJob Number: QAI-ELE-DEPMGR-01302026Job Title: Department Manager - Electrical Product SafetyLocation: Burnaby, British ColumbiaNumber of Positions: 1Category: Testing and EvaluationSalary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 CAD annuallyResponsibilitiesManage the electrical safety team and day‑to‑day activities, scheduling and managing the department’s backlog of projects.Understand the scope and complexity of electrical safety tests (dielectric strength, creepage/clearance, leakage current, environmental testing, etc.) to plan and schedule projects effectively.Monitor and track progress of testing and certification files to ensure timely completion and customer satisfaction.Prioritize projects and allocate resources based on testing complexity, deadlines, and client requirements.Apply foundational knowledge of evaluating electrical products in accordance with nationally recognized electrical safety standards (CSA, UL, IEC, etc.).Grow all aspects of the Electrical Department’s business, including scope and revenue.Act as technical lead during audits as required.Participate in other areas of electrical operations as needed.Familiarize with QAI’s quality system and administrative procedures.Interact effectively and professionally with customers and staff.Ensure work activities and lab equipment comply with QAI’s quality system.Travel throughout Canada and the USA as business dictates.Perform other duties assigned by the manager or its designee.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.5 years of directly related experience.Superior MS Word and Excel skills; proficiency with Email and Adobe Acrobat.Good Laboratory Practice skills essential for testing products.Good interpersonal and communication skills.Key Technical CompetencePractical knowledge in testing, inspection, and certification of electrical products.Ability to evaluate requirements, develop timelines, and meet client and company needs.Capability to prioritize, multi‑task, and coordinate activities across departments and locations.Skill in identifying conformance to test, inspection, and/or certification criteria and communicating this to clients and within the organization.Additional InformationMust hold a valid BC driver’s license.Must hold a valid passport (or be able to obtain one) and be able to travel to the US and international destinations.Progress through a 3‑month probation and training period based on satisfactory performance.Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $85,000 – $120,000 CAD annually.Extra benefits include base salary, bonus/commissions, medical, dental, and other perks.Equal Opportunity EmployerQAI Laboratories is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
