About the CompanyEstablished in 1981, the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) is the self-regulatory body that licenses and oversees general insurance brokers in Ontario. Our core responsibilities include setting qualification standards, licensing individuals and firms, monitoring compliance, and addressing profession conduct concerns through our complaints and discipline processes.We are looking for a full-time Auditor.Position OverviewAuditors at RIBO have a key role in ensuring that licensees adhere to the requirements of theRegistered Insurance Brokers Act, Regulations, By-Laws, and other applicable legislation. This is primarily achieved through RIBO’s Risk-Based Audit Program. Auditors assess both financial and operational practices to evaluate compliance and take appropriate action to address any regulatory concerns identified through the audit process.Primary Audit ResponsibilitiesConduct preliminary risk assessments of brokerages selected for audit by analyzing existing data and applying established risk indicatorsIdentify key regulatory risk areas and design tailored audits using appropriate modules from RIBO’s audit toolkitRequest and review financial records and operational documents from brokerages; follow up for additional information as neededAnalyze documentation to detect issues such as equity shortfalls, trust account discrepancies, position report anomalies, and Continuing Education non-complianceInterview brokers and staff to gather insights, clarify findings, and discuss potential resolutions or improvementsRecommend appropriate regulatory responses, escalating high-risk matters to RIBO’s Investigations team when necessaryCommunicate audit findings clearly and professionally,



both verbally and in writing, using RIBO-approved templates and standardsAdhere to RIBO’s audit service standards, procedures, and professional guidelinesOther ResponsibilitiesMonitor emerging industry trends and contribute to the development of regulatory responsesStay informed on theRegistered Insurance Brokers Act, related By-Laws, Regulations, the Code of Conduct, and other relevant legislationProvide feedback on internal processes, particularly within the Compliance, Conduct, and Investigations (CCI) function, and support continuous improvement initiativesCollaborate with internal departments (e.G., Licensing, Conduct, Investigations, Policy) to ensure consistency and alignment on compliance mattersQualificationsCandidates should meet one of the following profiles:Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CGA) with 3–5 years of experience in financial audits or brokerage operationsLicensed Insurance Broker with robust experience in financial recordkeeping and operational compliance within a brokerage settingExtensive Bookkeeping or Audit Experience (7–10 years), ideally within property and casualty (P&C) insurance or a regulatory environmentPreferred Experience:Familiarity with brokerage operations and financial controlsExperience conducting audits in a regulated industryKnowledge of P&C insurance products and workflowsPreferred Skills and AttributesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalExperience conducting interviews with senior staff (e.G., Principal Brokers) is an assetStrong analytical, problem-solving, time management,
