The successful candidate will support the installation, maintenance, and operation of VHF/UHF radio systems essential to operations and safety across the country. Based in Calgary, and working under the guidance of senior technologist, the technologist will assist with programming, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of radio equipment (portable, mobile, base stations, repeaters, etc.). The position also involves fieldwork, including travel, working at heights, and handling equipment. Under supervision, the individual will assist with system installation and maintenance, basic troubleshooting, equipment configuration, and adherence to procedures, while also contributing to the planning of activities and on-site operations.Work environmentParks Canada, a federal agency, protects and showcases the country’s natural and cultural heritage. Its radio systems support safety-critical communications for activities such as emergency response, firefighting, and search and rescue. The position is based at the Radio Communications Service Centre in Calgary and provides access to fully equipped facilities. It involves fieldwork, primarily day trips, as well as periodic multi‑day deployments across Canada.
