Junior Estimator

SiteTalent is hiring on behalf of our client, a well-established civil contractor based in Maple Ridge, BC, serving projects across the Lower Mainland. Known for their work in earthworks, underground utilities, road construction, onsite servicing, excavation, and land clearing, our client takes on commercial, industrial, institutional, residential, and municipal infrastructure projects.

The Role:

Our client is looking for a Junior Estimator to join their team and grow into a key part of the preconstruction process. This is a great opportunity for someone a couple of years into their career who's ready to build on their estimating and modelling experience, and to take on more responsibility as they grow into the role.

Responsibilities:

- Review plans, specifications, and tender or contract documents
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, both hard copy and digital
- Support the collection and evaluation of supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Assist with site visits and pre-bid meetings
- Help prepare cost estimates, including lump sum and unit rate pricing
- Support the preparation and submission of tender packages and proposals
- Contribute to project handoff documentation for the operations team
- Take on increasing responsibility as you grow into the role

Qualifications:

- 1-4 years of experience in construction estimating or a related field
- Some experience with quantity takeoff or modelling software




- Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong math and computer skills
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Valid Driver's Licence

Assets:

- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid
- Experience with Carlson Software
- Civil construction field experience
- Background in civil design, drafting, inspection, or survey
