Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Human Resources Manager to lead our HR initiatives and foster a positive, productive workplace environment. In this role, you will oversee all facets of human resources management, including talent acquisition, employee relations, and HR program implementation. Your energetic leadership will drive process improvements, ensure compliance with HR policies, and support organizational growth through effective change management.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, supervisory experience, and a passion for developing innovative HR solutions that empower our teams.
Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Provide guidance and support to leaders and employees on employee relations matters.
- Manage workplace investigations, performance concerns, attendance issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes as required.
- Support managers in effectively addressing employee performance and conduct issues.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.
- Ensure employee relations practices are consistent, fair, and compliant with applicable legislation.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Lead recruitment activities, including job descriptions, sourcing, interviews, selection, offers, and reference checks.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify workforce needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
- Oversee onboarding and ensure new employees have a positive and consistent introduction to CCIA.
- Support workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration
- Lead compensation and salary review processes, including market benchmarking and salary recommendations.
- Oversee employee benefits, vacation programs, leaves,
and other total rewards programs.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR information.
- Monitor compensation practices for internal equity, external competitiveness, and organizational affordability.
Performance & Employee Development
- Manage and continuously improve CCIA's performance management process.
- Coach leaders on setting expectations, providing feedback, and managing performance.
- Support employee development, career growth, training, and succession planning.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen leadership capabilities across the organization.
Policies, Compliance & Risk Management
- Develop, review, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial employment legislation and regulations.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and recommend updates to HR practices.
- Maintain appropriate HR documentation and records.
- Support workplace health and safety initiatives and other organizational risk-management activities as required.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Develop and implement initiatives that support employee engagement, retention, and organizational culture.
- Monitor employee feedback and identify opportunities to improve the employee experience.
- Support employee recognition and wellness initiatives.
- Promote CCIA's values and foster a collaborative and respectful workplace.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with broad experience across multiple HR disciplines.
- Experience providing HR advice and coaching to managers and leaders.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Experience with employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation, and HR policy development.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong business acumen and ability to connect HR initiatives to organizational objectives.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPHR designation or working toward the CPHR designation.
- Experience in a not-for-profit, association, agricultural, or industry organization.
- Experience supporting a senior leadership team.
- Experience with compensation benchmarking and salary structure development.
- Experience leading HR projects or organizational change initiatives.
- Provide trusted HR advice and coaching to managers and leaders on a broad range of people-related matters.
- Support workforce planning, organizational design, succession planning, and talent management initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, programs, and organizational effectiveness.
- Provide HR insights and recommendations to senior leadership using relevant workforce data and trends.
