Join Surrey Schools as a temporary Indigenous District Cultural Facilitator, advancing Indigenous cultural education within our schools. This team-oriented role emphasizes culturally responsive teaching strategies and community engagement. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work closely with K-12 educators to develop and implement programs focusing on the rich traditions of the Katzie, Semiahmoo, Metis, and other Indigenous groups.
Your contributions will play a vital role in increasing cultural competence among students and staff while promoting an inclusive educational experience for everyone in the district. Key Responsibilities:
- Create educational programs on Indigenous culture
- Work with teachers to integrate cultural elements into the curriculum
- Encourage cultural awareness amongst students and staff
- Collaborate with Indigenous organizations and parents
- Track and maintain reports for the programs implemented Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous history and traditions
- Experience facilitating cultural initiatives
- High school diploma plus relevant studies
- B.C. Driver's license required
