Summary

StreetReach Winnipeg, in collaboration with Neecheewam Inc. is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, energetic, and compassionate Indigenous Spiritual Care Provider to support children, youth and staff through culturally grounded programming, mentorship, ceremonies, teachings, and meaningful relationship-building. Supporting their well-being and development in alignment with our mission.

This position will support youth who may be experiencing a range of complex trauma, including involvement in the child welfare system, the youth justice system, and experiences related to trauma, exploitation, addiction, and mental health challenges. The role supports youth and focus on building trust, safety, and positive relationships though culturally based care.

The successful candidate will create safe, welcoming, and youth friendly opportunities for children and youth to explore indigenous culture, identity, and spirituality at their own pace. This role recognizes that many children and youth may be experience cultural teachings for the first time.

Spiritual Care

Provider will approach teachings with patience, flexibility, and understanding, creating safe space where youth can learn through connection, experience, storytelling, activities, and participation rather than expectation.

Job Duties Required:

- Conduct outreach and scheduled visits with youth in the community,



in placements, and other appropriate settings.

- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate cultural programing within Neecheewam. Inc. as well as StreetReach.

- Work collaboratively with community partners, including StreetReach Winnipeg, and youth Justice Programs, to support children and youth accessing services.

- Coordinate and contact visits with youth in care, including youth involved with justice system, to provide cultural support, mentorship, advocacy, and connection to teachings and resources.

- Develop individualized support plans and activities that promote healing, identity, well-being, and positive community connections.

- Maintain communication and collaboration with service providers, caregivers, and community partners to ensure youth receive culturally relevant support.

- Provide cultural support, mentorship and opportunities for cultural counselling to children and youth.

- Build positive, trusting relationships with children/youth by actively engaging in programs and activities throughout Neecheewam Inc.

- Participate in case planning and team meetings.

-Model the Seven Scared Teachings and Indigenous values in daily practices.

- Assist in safety planning and supporting youth during times of crisis.





- Assist with the management of cultural programming resources and budgets and ensure responsible use of program funds.

- Support the planning, development, and delivery of cultural programming across Neecheewam Inc.

- Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, activity reports, and updates to the Spiritual Care Director of Neecheewam Inc.

- Ensure effective communication regarding schedules, programming activities, and youth engagement.

- Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, caregivers, and community partners to enhance cultural supports for children and youth.

Experience:

· 3 or 5 years of related experience working with community partners, social services personnel, in a community setting.

· 3 to 5 years experience working with Indigenous Clients.

· Lived experience or knowledge of emotional, mental health, and social issues relative to Indigenous communities.

· Must have knowledge of sexual exploitation/sex trade for young people.

Education:

· Post secondary degree in a relevant social service program; a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to work safely in an outreach basis, with lots of movement and land-based ceremonies.

· Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable sector

· Child Abuse Registry

· Valid Driver license
