Cruz Motors is looking for a Journeyperson Automotive Technician to join our team on a flexible, part-time or full-time basis.
We're an independently owned automotive business in Saskatoon with a mix of dealership inventory, fleet vehicles, and general automotive work.
This isn't your typical flat-rate shop environment. A large portion of our work involves preparing vehicles for resale and maintaining vehicles for our fleet management business. That means we're able to offer something that's becoming increasingly hard to find in the automotive industry: flexible hours, a steady workload, and reasonable timelines to do the job properly.
We're open to discussing a schedule that works for you.
This Could Be a Great Fit If You Are:
- A Journeyperson looking for flexible or supplemental hours
- Recently certified and looking to build experience and confidence
- An experienced technician who wants a change from the traditional flat-rate setting
- Transitioning toward retirement but still want to work a few days a week
- Working independently and looking for additional income
- Looking for part-time work without committing to a traditional Monday–Friday schedule
What You'll Be Doing You'll work on a variety of domestic and import vehicles, with the type of work varying from routine maintenance to more involved mechanical repairs.
Typical work includes
- General automotive repairs and maintenance
- Brake, steering, and suspension repairs
- Engine and transmission repairs
- Electrical diagnostics and repairs
- No-start and drivability diagnostics
- Routine maintenance and preventative services
- Vehicle inspections and condition assessments
- Diagnosing and repairing issues found during vehicle inspections
We're looking for someone who can work independently, diagnose problems logically, and take pride in doing the job properly.
What We're Looking For
- Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certification
- Strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability
- Comfortable working independently
- Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replacing parts
- Professional attitude and attention to detail
- Pride in quality workmanship
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's licence
- Own professional set of automotive tools
- Reliable and able to communicate effectively with the rest of the team
Newly certified Journeypersons are encouraged to apply. Why Work With Us?
Flexible Hours
We're not necessarily looking for someone who wants a traditional 40-hour work week.
We can be flexible with scheduling and are open to discussing part-time, full-time, or supplemental hours depending on what you're looking for.
No Flat Rate
You'll be paid $35-45/hour for the hours you work, based on your experience and ability.
Less Pressure, Better Work
Because much of our work involves dealership inventory and fleet vehicles, we're generally not dealing with customers waiting in the parking lot for their vehicle to be finished.
That allows us to plan work sensibly and give technicians the time they need to diagnose problems and complete repairs properly.
A Different Kind of Automotive Job
We're building a shop where experienced technicians can come in, do good work, and go home without the constant pressure and politics that can come with a traditional repair shop.
Whether you're looking for a few extra hours a week, you're recently licensed and want to develop your skills, or you're an experienced technician looking to gradually slow down, we're willing to work with you.
If a flexible technician position sounds like something that could fit your situation, we'd love to hear from you.
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Benefits
- Dental care
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
- Store discount
