Marie, In-Person Status: Permanent, Full-Time Hourly Rate: $30.09 – $36.47 Reference #: CCS-0422-01Posting Date:April 22, 2026 Closing Date: April 29, 2026, at 4:30 p.M.JOB SUMMARYUsing a strength-based, solution-focused, and family centered approach, within the context of anti-oppressive practice, the Access Coordinator, in collaboration with AFS supervisors, counsellors and community partners, will ensure clients receive the right services at the right time. This position will service the Algoma district and work throughout the organization. The purpose of this position is to simplify the process of accessing and utilizing our services for children, youth and families, with complex and challenging mental health and/or addictions needs, by providing systems navigation. The Access Coordinator will collaborate with the clinical services staff and will utilize their extensive knowledge of AFS, community, regional, and provincial resources to ensure there is a coordinated service approach. The Coordinator will utilize their clinical knowledge and experience to assist in treatment and service planning and will work closely with the client and family, AFS counsellor (if applicable), clinical managers, community partners, hospital, transitional counsellor and other relevant parties to initiate services, evaluate, and follow up with services.MINIMUM EDUCATION/REGISTRATIONBachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Social Services Diploma or equivalent with 5 years’ experience in Children’s Mental Health.MINIMUM EXPERIENCEFive (5) or more year’s professional experience in children’s mental health or related field.Extensive knowledge of local, regional, and provincial mental health and addictions services and resources.A thorough knowledge of child and family development (psychological, emotional, physical, social), family systems theory,
parent-child interaction and attachment theory.Demonstrate knowledge of strength-based clinical intervention models.QUALIFICATIONSAbility to form effective working relationships with community partners and interdisciplinary teams inside and outside of the agency.Possess a high degree of clinical judgement and is able to manage expectations of others in a diplomatic and supportive manner.Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with children, youth and families.Negotiate effectively on behalf of the client, with collateral agencies, at the systems level to ensure the right services at the right time and place.Ability to construct and write clear, concise reports and applications (e.G. Complex Special Needs) with attention to detail.Explicit understanding of parameters of confidentiality and reporting responsibilities under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and Knowledge of pertinent legislation, such as, The Education Act, The Mental Health Act of Ontario, The Personal Health Information Protection Act, and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.Proficiency with computer software especially Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and data MIS.Possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s License with the ability to travel and use personal insured vehicle for business purposes.Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends across various settings (school, home, office, community).Ability to provide services in both official languages (English/French) is a definite asset. Must provide a clean Criminal Records Check.
