The position of Lead Hand – Welder/Fitter includes, but is not limited to production welding/fitting, service & repair welding, prototype building, Team leading. Responsibilities will include the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, as well as the fabrication of metal structures using jigs and fixtures in a high-paced production environment.

The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal products. This position will require to work with Production Supervisors to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG welding processes. The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must. Robust knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery.

Job Duties

- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
- Leading the team of welders/fitters to meet daily production targets.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas metal arc welding (GMAW, MCAW).
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
- Maintain safe work practices.
- Conduct technical inspections.
- Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits.
- Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues.
- Prepare input for various management and log reports.




- Review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
- Other work as assigned by Production Supervisors.

Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- (2) years’ experience as a Lead Hand Welder/Fitter.
- CWB, GMAW and MCAW valid welding certificates.
- Ability to work independently and leading welding team in a busy environment.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.

· Team leadership skills. · Able to work days/afternoons.

· Band Saw operation.

· Drill Press operation.

· Manual milling machine.

· Knowledge working in unionized environment.

· Forklift operation certificate.

· Crane operation skills.

Work Conditions

- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
- Overtime as required.
- Hazards associated with the trade.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
