Your recruiter will provide additional details about our total rewards package during the hiring process.Vacancy Status:This job posting is for an existing vacancyScope Of PositionThe Personal Banking Officer is the lead role involved in outbound, banker-initiated contact of members using in branch renewal lists, branch and marketing lead lists. The focus of this role is to contact and meet with designated members in an effort to understand and meet their overall banking needs, consolidate share of wallet and refer to more senior bankers. Sales are driven by appointments generated from the pro-active calling and up selling of referrals that have been provided by other sales professionals.Contributes to meeting team sales plan and related activities through effective assessment of member financial needs. Provides product and service solutions (of medium to high complexity in both credit and investment) through effective interviewing and probing, delivering financial advice designed to satisfy the member’s total financial needs. Recognizes and acts on referrals and sales opportunities and maintains relationships with business partners to optimize business opportunities and referrals.Major ResponsibilitiesFollows all sales and service processesMeet sales targets by delivering products and services that satisfy the members’ primary need.Probes to uncover additional needs to cross sell and up sell at every member interactionProvides education and advice to members on basic transactional banking and less complex investment and credit situations.Identify and refer high value or high potential members to appropriate staff.Through opportunity spotting maximizes growth and retention.Attends and actively partakes in branch meetings, huddles,



sales initiatives and campaigns.Is available for all walk in traffic and other member initiated contactActs to address on the spot referrals from MSR team.Meets voice mail/call handling guidelines. Respond to members within 4 hrs.Maintain a solid working knowledge and understanding of all products and services we offer and keep up to date with procedural changes including new accounts, investments, loans and mortgages.Be proficient in the use of sales and service tools to support member interactionsIdentify and set personal development plan and complete activities set inActively participate in regular weekly goal setting meeting and coaching sessions.Compliant with anti money laundering guidelines and other compliance and regulatory guidelines.Perform other duties as assigned.Educations / Certifications / ExperiencePost secondary education coupled with a minimum 2 years experience in a sales industry or equivalent experienceFinancial Services Industry experience an assetProven sales experienceExperience in providing credit solutions an assetKnowledge / SkillsKnowledge of investments, loans; basic knowledge of mortgagesWorking knowledge and ability to demonstrate basic sales skills required for prospect spotting and uncovering needsSound knowledge of various computer applications such as Excel, Word etcGood problem-solving skills sufficient to identify, analyze and resolve basic member issues/problemsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsCompetenciesMember/Client Centricity-Sustains member relationsContinuous Learning & Agility-Self assesses and monitors oneself to maintain personal effectivenessTeamwork-Contributes positively as a team memberAchievement Orientation-Consistently meets work expectationsAdaptability-Recognizes how change will affect workDecision Making & Problem Solving-Makes decisions based on guidelinesImpact & Influence-Uses facts and available information to persuadeInitiative-Addresses current issuesSales Process-Applies Alterna’s sales principlesProfessional/Technical Expertise-Demonstrates working knowledge as relates to the job’s roleAbout Alterna SavingsAlterna Savings and Credit Union Limited (Alterna) has delivered The Good in Banking® for over 115 years creating financial services that transform lives for the better, all while giving back to our community.
