Join Island Health as an Indigenous Community Support Specialist focused on enhancing the lives of individuals with substance use challenges. Contribute to a culturally protected health care workplace through advocacy and support. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will engage in providing life skills training, coaching, and wrap-around support for clients and their families.
Your role involves addressing both the physical and emotional needs of clients in accordance with established care plans. Your insights into Indigenous health issues and community resources will shape the care delivered. Key Responsibilities:
Assist clients with daily living activities and skill development
Offer tailored advocacy and support to clients and families
Document clients' progress and behavioral responses
Collaborate effectively within a diverse team
Promote individual independence and a positive change trajectory Requirements:
Educational background in Community Social Services
At least two years related experience with Indigenous individuals
Familiarity with mental health and substance use protocols
Basic Life Saving Certificate required
Class 5 driver's license essential Provide culturally sensitive support while working with Indigenous populations at Island Health.
