Award‑winning journalists and cutting-edge product development teams bring engaging content to millions of people every week, whenever and wherever they want it.The OpportunityWorking remotely in one of Postmedia’s newsrooms across the country in almost every province, ideal candidates are graduating students or recent graduates who are enterprising self‑stayers and team players. They have a sense for stories that resonate with a diverse readership, and a key asset is the ability to use digital tools to break and develop stories and ideas. Successful candidates will work to tight deadlines covering a wide range of news and other subjects.The reporting term is up to 16 weeks over summer, and each intern may be assigned to one of the following newsrooms based on location: National Post, Financial Post, Vancouver Sun, Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, Regina Leader Post, Saskatoon Star Phoenix, Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, London Free Press, Windsor Star, Halifax Chronicle Herald.Provision may be made by mutual agreement for assignment to other Postmedia newsrooms. Some weekend and statutory holiday work may be included.ResponsibilitiesDevelop content to engage audiences across several platforms,
tailored to meet the varying needs of web and mobile audiences.Generate story ideas daily and pivot quickly to other newsroom priorities to meet changing needs.Use social media and other digital tools to uncover breaking news and real‑time reader conversations.Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda.Work with digital teams to create interactive content, including text, photo, video and other multimedia elements that engage and enrich readers.CompensationEmployment offers are based on a combination of qualifications, experience, responsibilities of the role, location, and applicable Collective Agreements.Starting Salary: $17.60 per hour to $35.00 per hour.QualificationsGraduating journalism school student or graduate, or a candidate from a related field.
