We continue to make progress on two 174m long Joint Support Ships (JSS) for the Royal Canadian Navy – the largest ships ever built in Canada! We are working towards delivery of an Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel (OOSV) for the Canadian Coast Guard, and will be starting construction later this year of the first heavy Polar Icebreaker built in Canada for over 50 years.Following that we have several Multi-Purpose Vessels that are currently designing for construction in years to come. or Heavy-Duty Mechanic Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement; or a Recognized Equivalent Provincial Trades Qualification; or a Recognized Equivalent International Trade QualificationMinimum of 30 Months Documented Mechanical ExperienceRequired Skills & QualificationsShipbuilding experience in a recent construction shipyard preferredComprehend and follow written and spoken directions and work in a safe & efficient mannerGood communication skills both written and verbal in the English languageAbility to work in a team environment or individually with a positive attitudeDemonstrated proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints and drawingsDemonstrates proficiency with alignment, rigging, layout and a variety of hand toolingMust be able to work in a construction environment involving confined spaces, working at heights, physical labour, and various weather conditionsMust be able to be qualified to wear a respiratorThis is a Union role with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers - Local 692 and union membership will be required upon hire.If you are interested in future opportunities, please apply online today or send your resume [email protected] applying, you agree that Seaspan may share your resume with our Union partner, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers - Local 692Note: Unsolicited applications from recruitment agencies will not be acceptedThis position may involve defense articles and/or technical data regulated by the U.S.
