The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the repair and maintenance of our nursery and all related farm assets – greenhouses, equipment, site buildings, vehicles and everything in between. Each day will present different tasks and challenges.
The Maintenance Specialist will possess a high level of safety awareness and be competent in assessing safety requirements needed to complete projects while minimizing risks to the crops produced.The Maintenance Specialist understands what tasks fall within their scope and collaborates with management to outsource or bring in experts when necessary. Candidates may be interviewed and tested to assess their skill, ability, competence, and efficiency for this position.Key Accountabilities of the Maintenance SpecialistSafety & Compliance: Uphold a culture of safety by ensuring strict adherence to WorkSafeBC regulations and maintaining a clean, hazard‑free work environment for all equipment and facilities.Asset Management & Reliability: Oversee site‑wide preventative maintenance and inventory for all vehicles and nursery systems; perform emergencyrepairs and complex troubleshooting (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical).Project Coordination & Strategy: Lead capital improvement projects and outsourced contractor activities, providing data‑driven insights to management for maintenance planning and budgeting.Team Leadership & Optimization: Drive operational excellence by setting production targets, fostering a cooperative team environment, and championing continuous improvement and innovation.QualificationsHigh School Diploma.Valid Driver’s License.Minimum of 3 years experience in a maintenance role including carpentry and basic welding.Ability to work independently.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.High level of sound judgment and reasoning skills.Excellent organizational, record‑keeping, and time‑management skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).Preferred Qualifications & SkillsCertificates or training in electrical, pneumatic, heavy equipment or welding and fabricating.Salary$30–$40 per hour (compensation based on experience).#J-18808-Ljbffr
