Under the direction of the Claims Manager, the role is responsible for the overall work product of a claims unit comprised of Claims Specialists who manage assigned inventories of claim files. The unit also includes Claims Assistants providing clerical support. Responsibilities include coaching and counseling, monitoring performance to ensure compliance with company standards and Labor Code rules, conducting performance evaluations, and instituting corrective action when appropriate.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesMonitor and assess claims team work products to ensure adherence to Best Practices and client standards, while monitoring all claims for appropriate, timely, and effective handling.Conduct case reviews and evaluate performance by continuous review of claims statistics, open and closed file evaluations, diary compliance, and observation of activities in the field and office.Maintain frequent communication with supervisor and staff, and regularly schedule in person or telephonic conferences with Claims employees to perform one‑on‑one performance and progress feedback.Communicate client and George Hills' directives to claims team while ensuring compliance.Schedule regular in‑person meetings with clients, incorporating the assigned adjusting staff as appropriate.Ensure timely, accurate reporting of files,
and appropriate elevation of any claims meeting clients' reporting criteria to excess carriers/pools.Educate and mentor adjusters on company policies and procedures.Train adjusters on handling litigation to include possible attendance at settlement conferences, mediation, and closed session.Review and approve reserves and payments made by team members within supervisory authority.Review the settlement activity of adjusters to ensure sound systems, service, and security.Implement processes and procedures to ensure goals are attained.Requires working knowledge of the Labor Code of the State of California as it pertains to workers compensation claims and legal requirements for handling them.Handles other duties and tasks as deemed appropriate by the Claims Manager.RequirementsProject Management: Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.Change Management: Develops workable implementation plans; Communicates changes effectively; Builds commitmentand overcomes resistance; Prepares and supports those affected by change; Monitors transition andevaluates results.Leadership: Exhibits confidence in self and others; Inspires and motivates others to perform well; Effectively influences actions and opinions of others; Inspires respect and trust; Accepts feedback from others; Provides vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates; Gives appropriaterecognition to others; Displays passion and optimism; Mobilizes others to fulfill the vision.Managing People: Includes staff in planning, decision‑making, facilitating and process improvement; Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; Makes self available tostaff; Provides regular performance feedback; Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth; Solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external); Fosters quality focus in others; Improves processes,

A.) from four‑year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five or more years of progressive technical claim experience, demonstrating a high degree of judgment and discretion, is required to provide adequate guidance on complex claim cases and negotiate settlements effectively.Five years of experience in handling Public Entity Claims/General Liability claims.Five years direct leadership experience.Extensive experience in analyzing and addressing coverage issues.Extensive experience in Litigation Management, including litigation in multiple jurisdictions.Associate in Risk Management (ARM) preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Salary Range$100,000 - $135,000BenefitsWe take care of our people so they can take care of their work and their teams.
