Lead sustainable forestry efforts as a Resident Forester at UBC’s Alex Fraser Research Forest located in Williams Lake, BC. This position emphasizes regeneration planning and forest health management. As a key player in our team, you will be responsible for overseeing post-harvest activities and ensuring adherence to silvicultural guidelines. Your leadership will extend to supervising staff and contractors while managing significant budgetary resources.
Experience with environmental compliance and engaging with First Nations groups is essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities:
Supervise silviculture operations and planning activities
Ensure compliance with UBC policies and legal requirements
Lead budgeting efforts and cost control measures
Represent AFRF in community and stakeholder meetings
Train and evaluate staff, contractors, and students Requirements:
Relevant undergraduate degree
At least three years of forestry-related experience
Knowledge of the BC Forest and Range Practices Act
Preferred: Qualified Forester registration in BC
Proficient in GIS and computer applications Position yourself to influence sustainable forest management practices and community engagement at UBC.
