This role is within our Rail Systems team and will contribute to the growth of our Canadian operations.Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to the Traction Power and Electrification Systems engineering aspects of rail and transit project delivery, including interfacing with electrical, civil, track, and systems design teamsReview and validate designs, specifications, installation plans, and testing procedures for traction power substations, power distribution,



and electrification systemsProvide expert technical input to clients during the development of system requirements and contract documentationPrepare conceptual design and provide input to budget development for traction power systems in project bidsSupport project teams throughout the full lifecycle—from feasibility to commissioningApply lessons learned and recommend corrective actions to improve project outcomesDevelop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and delivery partners for traction power equipment and solutionsInterface with utility providers for power supply coordination and integrationEngage with clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and technical standardsCandidate SpecificationBachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related disciplineAt least 3-5 years of experience in the design, specification, installation, or maintenance of traction power systems, overhead, or power rail systems (strong background in passenger rail and transit projects preferred)EIT designationin Alberta, British Columbia or Ontario orProfessional Engineering licensepreferredExperience in one or more of the following areas:Traction Power Substation design and integrationSpecification of equipment such as transformers, rectifiers, and switchgearPower distribution systems (overhead catenary, LIM, or power rail)SCADA systems for control and monitoringInterfacing with power utilities and regulatory bodiesFamiliarity with Canadian and international standards for railway electrification and power systemsExperience with one or more of the following delivery systems is an asset:Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS)LIMPower rail systemsShop power / “Stinger” systemsINCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification is desirableStrong communication skills and fluency in EnglishAbility to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and lead technical discussions with clients and partnersKnowledge of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management (IEC/IEEE 15288)Salary, Benefits and CollaborationAt Mott MacDonald, our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, providing them with a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses.Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate 's actual salary within the expected range.The expected salary range for this position is from $84,000 - $100,000.Collaboration and Workplace CultureCollaboration at Our CoreAt Mott MacDonald, we believe excellent ideas happen when we 're together.
