Take on a vital role at Cape Breton University as the L’nu Health Lead, aimed at improving health outcomes in Mi’kmaq communities. Engage in community health initiatives and cultural advocacy. This full time position focuses on the collaboration with Unama’ki College to address health inequities in Nova Scotia.
You will work with Elders and health professionals to build capacity, support Mi’kmaq cultural practices, and enhance recruitment into health-related programs. Your leadership will guide research projects and initiatives that embody Indigenous knowledge and health promotion strategies. Key Responsibilities:
Engage with community Elders and members for health insights
Develop and implement health promotion activities
Enhance recruitment of Mi’kmaw students in health professions
Work closely with MINES for health education support
Report on health initiative progress annually Requirements:
Must be of L’nu descent with robust community ties
At least a bachelor's degree in health science or related discipline
Demonstrated knowledge of L’nu cultural practices
Proven leadership and communication capabilities
Experience within health research communities or practices Support health equity and Indigenous wellness as L’nu Health Lead at CBU.
