OverviewPanasonic Canada Inc. is hiring a Customs Trade Compliance and Operations Manager. The role oversees all customs operations and compliance governance across Panasonic business divisions, managing import and export compliance for resident and non‑resident importer programs with US CBP and CBSA.ResponsibilitiesEnsure all import and export reporting, customs entries, and claims are submitted accurately and within regulatory timelines, maintaining full compliance with CBSA requirements and policies.Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, staying current on regulations and freight market conditions and informing senior management of risks and issues.Manage regulatory compliance for controlled materials, including NRCan requirements and hazardous goods regulations, and assess recent materials for customs classification.Maintain all non‑resident importer processes with US CBP, manage ACE/ACE portals, negotiate broker agreements, and ensure accurate documentation in compliance with US CBP and partner agency regulations.Support the Customs Supervisor with tariff classification activities, monitoring regulatory changes and updating systems and processes.Respond to internal customs‑related inquiries, act as primary contact with CBSA officials, coordinate audit responses, support internal and external audits, and identify duty recovery opportunities.Ensure compliance with the Customs Act and Tariff Act by applying CBSA guidance, maintaining Trusted Trader Program status, reviewing internal systems, and lead testing to meet regulatory and business requirements.Determine when to request national customs rulings or advance rulings, manage applications to CBSA, research customs decisions, and implement approved controls to reduce financial risk.Ensure customs valuation compliance, assess duties or taxes, and manage adjustments, rulings,



or disclosures as required.Oversee the maintenance and retention of customs documentation, develop and maintain SOPs, review monthly reports, and evaluate inventory for duty drawback opportunities.Lead and manage customs staff, supporting hiring, performance management, development, and retention.Manage export compliance processes and procedures to ensure all export activities meet regulatory requirements.Participate in ODM vendor contract reviews, providing logistics and customs compliance input.QualificationsTwo‑year community college diploma with at least 7 years relevant experience or equivalent, including management experience.Certified Customs Specialist and Licensed Customs Broker required; Canadian CCS and CTCS with CSCB; US CCS with NCBFAA.Proficient in Microsoft Office, Descartes Visual Compliance, CARM, PIP, ACE portal, and SAP.Solid problem‑solving skills for customs compliance and freight carrier selection.Ability to establish and maintain relationships with government offices, trade compliance teams, factories, and industry contacts; influence management toadapt procedures for compliance.Nice‑to‑havesExperience with CITT, CITP, or CIFFA programs.What You’ll EarnAnnual salary range: $72,985 – $115,000 CAD.
