Classroom Assistant (Supply) Blind ProgramJob ID:244373Location:BrantfordSalary:$24.61 - $27.14 per hour**Indicates the salary listed per the OPSEU Collective Agreement.Position Details:4 temporary irregular on‑call/supply positions, up to 10 months, as required.About the jobWork with children who are visually impaired with multiple exceptionalities.Work in a multi‑disciplinary setting.Assist in providing individual and group programs to children who are visually impaired with multiple exceptionalities.Assist with the physical needs of children.Follow up on specialized programs set up by other agencies/professionals.Assist in program preparation and materials.Mandatory requirementsCommunity college certificate and/or equivalent training, education and working experience in a child‑related field.Current certification in Standard First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with AED.Skills and qualificationsDemonstrated experience working with children who are visually impaired and may have other emotional and behavioural disorders.Knowledge of child development and caring for children with special needs.Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and practices that address student care and safety.Excellent analytical,



problem‑solving and observation skills to identify students’ needs/difficulties.Ability to communicate effectively with students who may have a variety of multiple exceptionalities in an educational setting.Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team.Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) certification is an asset.Willingness to assist special‑needs students as required.Availability on an as‑needed basis.How we support diversity, inclusion, and accessibilityWe are building an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
