This role supports accounting across both entities, providing exposure to a unique combination of real estate investment and operational business environments.JOB SUMMARYReporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant (CPA) plays a key role in managing full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting across a group of related entities, including both real estate and operational business units. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on position within a multi‑entity workplace, requiring strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to manage competing priorities.Working closely with leadership and ownership, the role is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and review of financial information to ensure accuracy, compliance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), and timely reporting. The position also supports areas such as lease accounting, intercompany transactions, and overall financial oversight across the organization.This is a fully in‑office role designed to support close collaboration with cross‑functional teams. It is well suited for a CPA seeking to broaden their experience in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with exposure to both real estate investment and operational business accounting.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial ReportingManage full‑cycle accounting for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial recordsManage monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, including preparation and review of accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and amortizationPerform and review balance sheet reconciliations,



ensuring all accounts are supported and discrepancies are resolvedReview general ledgers (approx. 20) activity across all entities to ensure accuracy and completenessPrepare and review financial statements and supporting schedulesAnalyze financial performance, investigate variances, and provide actionable insights to managementMaintain audit‑ready working papers and documentationReal Estate AccountingOversee property‑level accounting, including maintenance of general ledgers and financial reportingRecord and review rental revenue, common area maintenance (CAM), recoveries, and tenant billingsManage tenant deposits, prepaid rent, and accounts receivable reconciliationsPrepare CAM reconciliations and tenant true‑ups in accordance with lease agreementsInterpret lease terms and apply appropriate accounting practices, including deferred rent and tenant incentivesEnsure appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with lease terms and applicable accounting standardsEnsure compliance with applicable lease accounting standardsAccrue and reconcile property‑related expenses, including taxes and insuranceOperational Accounting (Inventory & Costing)Oversee accounting for operational business units, including revenue, inventory, and cost of goods sold (COGS)Reconcile daily sales activity to the general ledgerMonitor and analyze gross margins by product line and location, identifying operational trends, cost variances, and margin risksReview inventory adjustments, shrinkage, and obsolescence provisionsCash Management & TreasuryPrepare and review bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entitiesOversee daily cash management activities, including monitoring cash positions across entitiesProvide visibility on cash balances and support short‑term liquidity planningTrack and reconcile mortgage and loan balances, including principal and interest allocationsSupport payment processing, including electronic transfers and high‑value disbursementIntercompany & Multi‑Entity AccountingRecord and reconcile, intercompany transactions across a group of related entitiesEnsure consistency and accuracy in financial reportingBudgeting, Forecasting & Financial AnalysisSupport the development of annual budgets across properties and operational unitsMaintain and update financial forecasts, including rental income and operating costsPrepare financial reporting for lenders, including covenant calculations and compliance reportingDevelop management reports, dashboards,



and key performance indicators to support decision‑makingCompliance, Audit & Internal ControlsEnsure compliance with applicable accounting standards (ASPE) and regulatory requirementsPrepare, review, and submit government remittances, including GST/HST/PST filingsSupport and coordinate external audit processes, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor requestsSupport corporate tax compliance in collaboration with external advisorsMaintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial governance practicesAccounts Receivable & Payroll OversightMonitor accounts receivable, collections, and aging across tenants and customersReview payroll data for accuracy prior to processingEnsure payroll‑related entries are properly recordedProcess Improvement & SystemsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflowsSupport ERP enhancements, particularly within Oracle NetSuiteMaintain and optimize chart of accounts and reporting structuresLeadership & CollaborationAct as a key accounting resource for operations, property management, and leadership teamsCollaborate cross‑functionally to support business initiatives and financial decision‑makingWork closely with ownership, including direct involvement in financial oversight and reportingAll other related reasonable duties and responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONSMust have a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standingBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in multi‑entity environmentsExperience in real estate and/or inventory‑based operations is strongly preferredWorking knowledge of ASPEProficiency in Oracle NetSuite and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills required)Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and work in a hands‑on, non‑corporate environmentMust embody an entrepreneurial spirit by being comfortable operating in a hands‑on, evolving environment with changing prioritiesPERKSExposure to a diversified portfolio across real estate and operational businessesCollaborative, family‑oriented work environment with direct access to leadershipExtended group Health BenefitsVacation entitlement starting at three (3) weeks per yearPublic Transport accessibleFree on‑site parkingTo be considered, please submit your resume along with a brief summary (3–5 sentences) highlighting your relevant experience and fit for this role.
