Manage end-to-end multi-state (U.S.) and multi-province (Canada) payroll processing, including salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions

Oversee payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, compensation adjustments, and garnishments, and reconcile payroll to the general ledger to support month-end and year-end close

Review and approve payroll journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, and serve as the primary payroll subject matter expert for Finance, HR, Perks, and external providers

Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local payroll laws and Canadian federal and provincial payroll regulations

Oversee payroll tax filings and statutory remittances in both countries, along with garnishments, levies, and other statutory deductions

Monitor regulatory changes across both countries and coordinate support for payroll audits and regulatory inquiries

Partner with HR on benefit deductions and reporting, oversee U.S.

Affordable Care

Act tracking and filings, and support Canadian statutory benefits programs

Manage payroll systems and vendor relationships, including leading system implementations, upgrades, and provider migrations from requirements gathering through post-implementation stabilization

Maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready documentation, and continuously improve payroll policies, procedures, and workflows

Develop and distribute recurring and ad hoc payroll reporting, including registers, variance analyses, headcount and labor cost reports, and benefits reconciliations, to support budgeting, forecasting, and audits





Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field

5+ years of payroll leadership experience

Experience managing both U.S. and Canadian payroll required

Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian statutory and benefits reporting requirements

U.S. or Canadian payroll certification preferred

Experience in multi-location healthcare organizations preferred

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
