This position requires the performance of physically demanding tasks, such as repetitive lifting of tools and equipment and, on occasion, raising equipment in excess of 45 kg.Work environment. Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.Operational RequirementsCommitted to personal and job safety and demonstrate safe behaviour while performing tasks in various weather conditions.Willing to perform repetitive, strenuous physical activity.Must be able to lift supplies, tools and equipment such as line trimmers, jerry cans and push lawn mowers.Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, and by various means of transportation.Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and recommended personal protective equipment.Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime,
weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays when required.Must possess and maintain a valid Class G driver’s license.Must obtain pre‑employment medical.You need (essential for the job)Education:A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, experience or traditional knowledge relevant to the position.Experience:Significant experience in the performance of general maintenance tasks related to at least one of the following areas: grounds maintenance and landscaping activities, equipment operation and maintenance, carpentry.Experience:Recent and significant experience in the operation, use and maintenance of hand tools and power equipment (e.G., lawn tractors, mowers, chainsaws, tractors, trailers, backhoes, skid steers, and/or ATVs). Recent experience is defined as gained within the last five years. Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over at least a two‑year period.Applied / assessed at a later dateKnowledge:Knowledge in the secure use and maintenance of various gas, mixed fuel, and diesel‑fueled equipment and machinery.Knowledge of properly selecting and safely operating a wide range of manual and power tools.Abilities:Ability to perform a variety of general maintenance tasks such as raking trails and pathways, clearing brush, trimming hedges, clearing culverts, loading and unloading supplies, assembling and disassembling tools, equipment and/or structures.Ability to conduct basic inspections, identify required repair and maintenance tasks and approaches,
