Job PostingHead ChefThe Head Chef is the leader of all food preparation. Alongside the Kitchen Manager, they will lead the Kitchen Staff to create delicious dishes to feed to the amazing kids of Camp Shomria. They will be responsible for creating a menu, teaching the Kitchen Staff about food safety and aiding in cooking all the meals.ResponsibilitiesReport to Kitchen Manager and Director of Operations; responsible for ensuring meals are served on time; responsible for cookingand plating meals; work with kitchenstaffto maintain highest standards of kitchen and dining hall sanitation and safety; train kitchen staff team on healthy cooking and safe food handling; coordinate food, supplies and stock purchases with the kitchen manager; appropriately manage inventory to minimize waste; maintain inventory of freezers, coolers and dry storage; check in all deliveries; ensure the kitchenbudget is followed and meet weekly with Executive Director and kitchen manager to review the budget, invoices,



and payables; implement the menu and provide 150 staff members and campers with healthy and delicious food; all meals will need to accommodate for certain dietary restrictions; follow and be guided bythe Camp Shomria Kitchen Manual, health and safety regulations and any additional camp policies with which you will be provided.RequirementsMust have experience cooking for large groups of people.Must be willing to cook healthy and delicious, kid-friendly food.The position requires knowledge in budgeting, accounting, business management and teamwork.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.Versatile attitude.Ability, both visual and auditory, to identify and respond to safety and environmental hazards and inform campers, staff, and guests.Physical strength to lift equipment and supplies (50 lbs).Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time.Willing to live in a rustic camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities.Room and board will be provided.Compensation: $1000/week.
