Join Keewaytinook Okimakanak as a Community Based Education Special Education Resource Teacher. Provide culturally responsive support and foster student engagement in elementary schools. In this role, you will work as a Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT) within KO communities, focusing on individualized academic and developmental support for students.
Your responsibilities include developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), leading after-school activities, and ensuring effective collaboration with educational staff and community partners. Your efforts will significantly enhance student achievement and retention. Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored instructional support for secondary subjects
Facilitate IEP development with education partners
Coordinate special education services for students
Develop transition and retention strategies for students
Communicate regularly with community and educational stakeholders Requirements:
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
Eligibility for Ontario College of Teachers certification
Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience
Special Education Qualifications preferred
Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives is an asset Utilize your pedagogical expertise to enhance learning experiences within the KO First Nation community.
