Job Summary: We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Nature Interpreter (Bilingual) to join the FWA Education Team. Your primary responsibilities will be delivery of K-12 education programs, with high proficiency in English and French, engaging youth in outdoor experiences in nature, learning about our environment, cultural history, and outdoor recreation. Hours of work will be Monday-Friday, mornings and afternoons as needed, with up to 37.5 hours per week.
Must be available to attend the workplace within minimal notice.
Principal Tasks
Deliver educational programming for school and youth groups in English and French.
Coordinate school programs, including assembling program supplies, preparing schedules and supporting volunteer interpreters
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Completing a degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Education, or equivalent experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
Proven experience in delivery and design of educational programming for children and youth (a child abuse registry check and criminal records check are required)
Proven initiative and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in independently and collaboratively in a agile and flexible setting
Robust planning, organizational and time management skills
Genuine enthusiasm for FortWhyte Alive and our mission, mandate, and guiding principles
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and the TRC Calls to Action is a requirement
Proficiency using Google Suite in order to prepare documents, spreadsheets, and routine correspondence
Certification in First Aid and CPR an asset
