Health & Safety SpecialistWe’re actively recruiting a Health and Safety Specialist who will assist with development, improvement, implementation, and communication of methods and controls directed toward preventing accidents and incidents in the workplace for assigned locations.In collaboration with the Corporate Health & Safety team, leadership, and other stakeholders, the specialist will drive our health and safety culture and play a pivotal role in achieving our health and safety goals and objectives, maintaining best practices and applicable safety certifications across the business.BranchThe ideal candidate must reside within commuting distance to a JJE Ontario or JJE Alberta branch.Work EnvironmentOffice.Employment Type1 OpportunityPermanentMonday–FridayTotal Rewards OverviewAnticipated salary range: $70,000.00–$90,000.00 + annual bonus opportunity (based on education and experience)Annual performance review with increase opportunityGroup benefits fully paid for by the company – inclusive of health, dental, life, disability and travel coverageVacation & paid personal daysEmployer matching retirement savings planPosition ResponsibilitiesPlan and coordinate regional implementation of the company’s health and safety program and work collaboratively with others (Senior Leaders, Regional Directors, Corporate H&S and HR) to ensure program communication.Collaborate with committees, representatives, employees, managers, the Health & Safety Team, and others to evaluate and update hazard assessments, training requirements, safe work practices,



and job procedures and ensure training is delivered and tracked per legislation.Contribute to development of health & safety strategies and continuous improvement outcomes to improve employee and organizational excellence.Advise employees, managers, and committees on health and safety program policies, procedures and legislation.Support program implementation through preventive measures (inspections, training, communications, meetings, committee engagement) and corrective measures (investigation, injury management).Collaborate to identify and address gaps in the program and its implementation.Maintain knowledge of current health and safety legislation, standards and requirements.Ensure audits and inspections are conducted according to requirements.Monitor compliance with the company’s program and relevant legislation.Cooperate with occupational health and safety officers, inspectors and others to monitor compliance and take corrective action.Conduct regional site safety audits for compliance.Work with on‑site leaders to conduct routine audits and inspections at each assigned location and maintain accurate, complete information related to program implementation.Act as member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and assist in facilitation of JHSC meetings.Provide material for toolbox talks per legislation or company requirements.Participate in, monitor and report progress on leading indicators,



lagging indicators and safety initiatives.Participate in cross‑company special projects and initiatives.Prepare safety presentations and present updates to leadership and/or employees.Assist in coordination of investigative efforts relating to incidents, accidents and environmental issues ensuring timely and effective resolution.Foster and reinforce a prevention and early intervention mindset as it relates to safety.Other duties as required.Position Requirements & QualificationsCertificate or diploma in EHS, Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.Valid passport for cross‑border travel.Must be able to pass a pre‑employment background check.3+ years of experience in a health and safety position.Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.Understanding of safety programs such as COR & WSIB Safety Excellence Program.Knowledge of multi‑provincial/state health and safety legislation.Knowledge of building and implementing safety standards and processes.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Demonstrated enthusiasm for health and safety.Demonstrated ability to facilitate safety training sessions and develop policies and communications.Strong organizational and project management skills.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.Cooperative, self‑motivated and results‑driven.Ability to make sound judgement calls.Ability to recognize and suggest continuous process improvements.Additional InformationThis position is open to qualified candidates in compliance with all applicable equal employment opportunity laws.#J-18808-Ljbffr
