LHSC is known for its great people and great care, with a workforce of close to 15,000, dedicated to delivering the highest quality patient care while partnering with communities to transform health, one life at a time.About the RoleOpen: May 4, 2026Deadline: May 10, 2026Non-UnionEmergency PreventionThe Emergency Management (EM) Consultant is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the emergency preparedness capability of LHSC for all types of disasters (internal and external) that may impact the hospital or community LHSC serves. The EM Consultant supports the LHSC vision through expertise in disaster planning, training, disaster risk mitigation, emergency response, and recovery. The EM Consultant creates and develops emergency training curriculum, leading and managing corporate improvement initiatives related to emergency management from design and implementation through to evaluation and close‐out. The EM Consultant serves as a critical partner, representing LHSC with local and regional emergency response agencies. This role is a resource for staff at all levels in educating, mentoring, and supporting the development of emergency management procedures and/or process improvement principles and practices.What we offerStatus: Regular Full‐TimeRate of Pay: $40.17 - $50.23 per hourHours of Work:



37.5 hours per weekPension Plan: HOOPPEmployee Wellness InitiativesWhat you bringSuccessful completion of a two (2) year Emergency Management graduate certificate program or acceptable to the hospitalMaster or University degree preferredIncident Management System (IMS) 100 or higher; or equivalent requiredMinimum three (3) years recent related experience requiredFive (5) years or more of recent related experience preferredAdvanced knowledge of Emergency Management standards, best practices in industry regulations (e.G.-Fire Code, Public Hospitals Act, Accreditation Canada) to conceptualize and implement in a tertiary health care setting and integrates it into understanding of local and regional health systemStrong interpersonal, team-building, conflict management and problem-solving skills to liaise with city partners, first responders, and internal stakeholders to establish relationships and collaborates effectivelyStrong facilitation skills in education, mentorship, and collaboration opportunitiesEffective time management and quality improvement skillsExperience conceptualizing and analyzing problems to identify critical issues quickly and accuratelyExperience as a Team Lead, facilitating skill development and conducting assessmentsHands-on experience applying process improvement methodologiesDemonstrates exceptional verbal, written communication and facilitation skillsProficient with Microsoft applicationsWell-versed in CBRNE hazards and proper hazards management using dedicated CBRNE decontamination equipment and personal protective equipmentComprehensive understanding of the IMS system in order to represent LHSC at the city Emergency Operations CentreDemonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered careDemonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSCDemonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and ValuesDemonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basisTeaching, Learning and ResearchLHSC Centre is proudly one of Canada’s largest acute‐care teaching and research hospitals.
