This term position will commence August 2026, and end April 2027.Job SummarySupervises and coordinates all aspects of the daily operations for NVIT’s campus café. The Cafeteria Coordinator reports to the Culinary Professional Cook (PC) Program Chef and is responsible for the day‑to‑day coordination of cafeteria operations and support staff.Duties IncludeThe preparation and cooking of company standard recipes.Practices and follows all food safety procedures, temperatures, handling, and storage.Reports and deviances to equipment as soon as possible to campus maintenance.Follows all ordering procedure’s and reports any food or non-food purchases to the Chef Instructor.Coordinates all aspects of catering for internal and external clients.Monitors email and voice mail lines.Responsible for food, cash stations, dishwashing and seating area clean up if needed.Processes all mail, codes/approves food invoices.Maintains Food Services business systems – cash registers, pin pads,
back-office software.Maintains good working knowledge of policy and procedures.Ensures compliance with applicable health and food service permit to operate.Ensures WHMIS compliance in work area including keeping an inventory of controlled products, maintaining the MSDS binder, and ensuring containers of controlled products have correct WHMIS labelling.You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of NVIT and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.Other related duties as assigned by the Chef Instructor.Must have earned the level of PC2 or have equivalent experience.Minimum 2 years recent supervisory experience in Food and Beverage role.A valid Food Safe certificate.Professional demeanor and proven ability to lead a team successfully.Demonstrates exceptional communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.Builds and maintains a positive/team-oriented work environment between Culinary Arts program Chefs and Food Services staff.Sound knowledge of financial management including the ability to control food/labor costs.Must be able to operate integrated POS system with Back Office software when required.Proficient in Spreadsheets, Word, and Email.Must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with quickly changing work priorities.Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.Knowledge of all cafeteria positions to complete on the job training.Initiative and ability to work well on own.Must have a demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous people and an understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing.#J-18808-Ljbffr
