Join Surrey Schools as a temporary Indigenous District Cultural Facilitator, advancing Indigenous cultural education within our schools. This cooperative role emphasizes culturally responsive teaching strategies and community engagement.
In this position, you will have the chance to work closely with K-12 educators to develop and implement programs focusing on the rich traditions of the Katzie, Semiahmoo, Metis, and other Indigenous groups. Your contributions will play a vital role in increasing cultural competence among students and staff while promoting an inclusive educational experience for everyone in the district.
Key Responsibilities:
Create educational programs on Indigenous culture
Work with teachers to integrate cultural elements into the curriculum
Encourage cultural awareness amongst students and staff
Collaborate with Indigenous organizations and parents
Track and maintain reports for the programs implemented
Requirements:
Robust knowledge of Indigenous history and traditions
Experience facilitating cultural initiatives
High school diploma plus relevant studies
B.C. Driver's license required
Indigenous heritage is essential
