In this position, you will contribute to a wide range of impactful actuarial assignments and projects, such as analyzing strategic changes affecting Ontario’s workplace safety and insurance system. You will be involved in the development and enhancement of actuarial models, providing valuable insights that help senior actuaries and management offer expert advice to the WSIB leadership and the Ontario Ministry of Labor (MOL). This is an exciting opportunity to use your technical skills and analytical expertise to make a meaningful difference in the field of workplace safety and insurance.Major ResponsibilitiesSupport actuarial modelling and analysisResearch, develop,



and update actuarial models using sound practices and assumptionsCompile, validate, and analyze data to ensure accuracy and completenessExecute actuarial models and prepare results for review by senior staffPremium rate setting and monitoringHelp set annual premium rates for over 150 employer groups using current strategies and economic forecastsParticipate in consultations with industry groups and help produce the Premium Rates ManualProvide rate tables and information to internal teams for employer billingValuation Of Benefit LiabilitiesAssist in calculating the present value of expected future benefit paymentsPrepare reports on benefit liabilities and cash flows for internal and external stakeholdersCollect and validate data for quarterly valuations and year-end reportingFinancial forecastingSupport the development of long-term forecasts for revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilitiesAnalyze results to help the WSIB management and the Ministry of Labour with strategic planning and legislative developmentExperience Rating Program SupportHelp develop and review models for employer experience rating programsForecast rebates and surcharges, and respond to employer questions about their accountsAdvise industry committees and support the monitoring of rating programsSpecial studies and projectsParticipate in studies on claims experience, mortality, termination,



and occupational diseasesPrepare liability valuations for specific employer groups and support audit processesGenerate tables for benefit payments and assist with benefit indexationCollaboration and communicationWork closely with other WSIB departments and external organizationsRespond to requests for reports, information, or explanations on actuarial mattersSupport ad hoc projects, such as assessing legislative changes or updating actuarial systemsJob RequirementsA post‑secondary degree in actuarial science, mathematics, science, or business.At least 2 years of actuarial experience and basic knowledge of actuarial principles.Completion of 2 or more SOA (Society of Actuaries) or CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) exams, or similar experience.Experience with tools such as GGY AXIS.Strong proficiency in MS Excel is a must.Experience with VBA, R, Python is a strong asset.Strong communication skills (verbal and written).Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusionWe respect and value the diversity of our people.
