ThisFull-time Summer Contractposition within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’sRotary Camp Tillicumlocation inNorth Bay .Under the leadership of the General Manager of Camping Services & Youth Leadership, and the Supervisor of Recreational Programming & Day Camps, and the Supervisor of Aquatics, the Lifeguard performs lifeguard duties in accordance with the National Lifesaving Society (NLS) standards and is responsible for delivering quality, values-based programming. This job is also responsible for ensuring the safety of staff and participants while in the swim area.LOCATION: Rotary Camp TillicumRATE OF PAY: Starting at 18.50/hourHOURS: Up to 40 hours per weekWhat You'll Do:Ensure the safety of staff and campers during all waterfront activities (including swimming, canoeing, kayaking,
etc.)Provide active supervision and enforce all waterfront safety procedures at all timesRespond promptly and effectively to first aid situations and emergenciesInspect and maintain first aid and rescue equipment to ensure it is in secure working conditionMonitor waterfront conditions (weather, water quality, visibility) and adjust supervision as neededComplete accurate incident reports for submission to the camp leadership teamMaintain a clean, organized, and safe beach and waterfront area throughout the day and at closingSupport and actively participate in camp programming as requiredPerform other duties as assigned to support overall camp operationsIncorporate YMCA “Y Way” standards into all interactions and responsibilitiesBuild positive relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organizationWhat You'll Bring:National Lifeguard certification (NL) in good standingNational Lifeguard (Waterfront) considered an assetBasic understanding of waterfront operationsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsPhysically fitCurrent Standard First Aid and CPR CCurrent and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector CheckWhat We Offer:Free YMCA membership + 10% off family membershipPaid personal/sick daysEmployee & Family Assistance Program with counselling, coaching, legal + financial supportsTeam events + staff recognitionExplore different YMCA roles and career pathsSuccessful candidates will be required to submit a current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check for review prior to starting employment.
