You will have responsibilities over field survey operations and should plan to spend the majority of your time in the field performing survey field operations. You will also be expected to lead and teach more junior surveyors good surveying practices. The majority of the operations will be during the day Monday to Friday; however, the applicant should expect some varying times/shift type scheduling depending on the project requirements.District OverviewKiewit Nuclear Canada is a full-service engineering, project management, and construction provider operating. As part of Kiewit, we are integrated with 135 years of construction and engineering excellence that provides wholistic solutions, differentiating our team from the rest of the industry.LocationThis role will be based at the Darlington Nuclear FacilityResponsibilitiesImplement Safety in every aspect of their working dutiesImplement project survey plan specific to field operations.Oversee the operation with periodic reviews of record‑keeping, field procedures, and survey audits to ensure that all work is performed efficiently and professionally.Maintain accurate and legible field notes; sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, clarify, and assume liability for work performed.Verify the accuracy of survey data,



including measurements and calculations conducted at project sites.Prepare site surveying documents/reports and present findingsEnsure maintenance equipment and well‑calibratedSetting and maintenance of control network.Performing layout and drawing clarificationsSupervising, teaching, and leading more junior members of the teamQualificationsCommitted to working safely and getting the job done right the first timeMust be willing to work 40-45 hours per week, occasionally it may be required to work some irregular hours (and occasionally weekend shifts)3-5 years' experience in Construction Survey, Field Engineering, traversing, leveling, layouts, or a related experience is requiredAbility to coordinate with different trades, field, and other construction team membersUnderstanding common Canadian coordinate systemsSurveying experience in Nuclear/Large scale construction project is an assetGPS, leveling, and robotic total station experience is required preferably with Trimble/Leica equipmentMust be able to apply intermediate concepts of Trigonometry, Mathematics, Calculus, and Geomatics to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage)Strong computer knowledge to use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other computer‑assisted design softwareSelf‑starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in safety, quality, and productivityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a teamDynamic thinker with the desire to lead,



motivate and mentor teamsWorking at heights trained is an assetBachelor’s degree in Geomatics or Diploma in Civil Engineering Tech or equivalent is an assetWorking ConditionsWill manage a diverse workload; must be able to handle stress and immediate deadlinesMust be able to interact professionally with all levels of managementOccasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds and walk on uneven surfacesWould be able to safely work at heights and underground passagesMust be able to work regularly scheduled hours and occasional irregular hoursOther RequirementsRegular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environmentPerform work safely and effectively.
