Youth Recreational and Leisure Activities Program CoordinatorBent Arrow Traditional Healing Society and Edmonton Police Service are excited to host the eighth annual “Oskayak” (meaning “Youth” in the Cree language) Police Academy (OPA). OPA helps to build stronger, more resilient youth and, more knowledgeable police officers. OPA helps educate Indigenous youth about the EPS and EPS officers about Indigenous youth. They participate in shared experiences learning about practices, protocols, culture, and crime prevention initiatives. The Camp Coordinator will perform a variety of tasks in the OPA setting, including the development of activities and curriculum.In Cree, Kikosewin means the act of being with family. The Hub is for all family members to grow together. We believe in the importance of family and that children and youth are safe, healthy, and nurtured by their parents or caregivers as “children are a gift from the creator and should be treated as such.”As an Indigenous Family Resource Network, Kikosewin's Hub offers an array of services, supports and programming for children, youth and families in three core areas:Child Development and Well-beingCaregiver Capacity Building (by creating parenting opportunities and experiences to strengthen parenting abilities)Social Connections and SupportThe Oskayak and Kikosewin Programs would be the two areas the successful applicant would be responsible to provide support.ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing flyers, brochures, and other methods to promote program and job placement activitiesMarket the program to referring agencies, the wider community,



and the general public to ensure outcomes reflect our expected agreement deliverablesFacilitate and coordinate programming for participantsAssist in developing a curriculum with an Indigenous focusRemain adaptive to changes in service delivery modelsAssist in the general operation of the Academy.Participate in team meetings and contribute to the effectiveness of the programming.Ensure that all services are provided within the standards of the Academy and consistent with the Academy's goals and objectives.Assist with various child and youth programs (Age Ranging from Birth to 17 years) associated with Family Resource Network after Oskayak Youth Academy is completed.Qualification RequirementsSomeone who is pursuing an Education degree, Child and Youth, or another related fieldMust be a Secondary or Post Secondary student and returning to studies in Fall 2026 and be aged 18-25 years old as per requirements of Canada Summer Jobs Program.Experience leading others and providing mentorshipSomeone who has experience working with youth and youth programming and/or curriculum development for youthOversees the daily operations of recreational facilitiesHave strong understanding and/or lived experience of the barriers and challenges that youth from Indigenous communities’ face.Robust interpersonal skills and a team playerExcellent ability to communicate effectively with participants and the public including potential employers and other service providersExcellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to create, edit and proofread flawless resumes and cover lettersStrong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, ACCESS, and PowerPoint to create presentations, resume & cover letter preparation.Must pass reference checks and background screenings (Intervention Check + .Vulnerable Sector Check prior to start a must).Hours and WageHours: 35 Hours/Week (8 Weeks pending start date) Proposed Dates: June 24 to August 19thWage: $25/Hour#J-18808-Ljbffr
