Join the City Operations Waste Services as an Environmental Engineering Technologist focused on sustainability and data collection in waste management. This position combines outdoor monitoring with technical expertise to enhance environmental operations.
You will play a key role in the Sustainable Waste Processing section by assisting in landfill gas management, groundwater diversion, and leachate systems. This position requires a two-year diploma in Civil or Chemical Engineering Technology, along with at least two years of relevant experience in waste management. Additionally, you’ll ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in monitoring at various sites.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and manage landfill gas systems and groundwater diversion
• Conduct detailed environmental monitoring and data collection
• Troubleshoot routine operational issues in the field
• Enter inspection data into spreadsheets accurately
• Assist with safety inspections and lab equipment maintenance
Requirements:
• Two-year engineering technology diploma
• Minimum two years in waste management, specifically landfills
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring procedures
• Skilled in data entry and technical problem-solving
• Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license required
