Contribute to the Gupta laboratory at UBC as a Research Assistant focused on ocular and neurodegenerative diseases. Engage in hands-on projects utilizing advanced techniques in a team-oriented environment.
The Research Assistant/Technician 4 will play a crucial role in supporting research initiatives in the Department of Ophthalmology. This position requires proficiency in techniques like ELISA, PCR, cell cultures, and in vivo testing. Candidates should be self-motivated, collaborative, and prepared to deliver quality results under supervision while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and conduct complex experiments across various techniques
• Analyze and interpret data, presenting results in meetings
• Perform cell culture and molecular biology experiments
• Manage animal care and surgical procedures for in vivo experiments
• Assist with lab inventory and equipment maintenance
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline with four years’ experience
• Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Experience with advanced laboratory techniques
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve experimental issues
• Capable of overseeing less experienced lab members
