You will work closely with various teams to ensure productive communication and coordination.The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of warehouse operations, is comfortable with high-tech systems and automation, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.This role is crucial to our mission of providing the best service to our customer to make sure their business can thrive in Canada.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)Monitor conveyor system status through SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition)Dispatch technicians, unjammers and cleaners as required (through radio)Determine/coordinate configuration changes to bypass off-service conveyorReport and track service calls and technical issues internallyAct as 1st line for remote support using CMMS toolsFollow standard operating proceduresFollow established escalation guidelines in the event of system downtime or irregular operationsInitiate Major Incident procedures when requiredGenerate reports at the end of each shiftDetermines sequence and approach with little assistanceCarries out a variety of control room activities with little assistanceCommunicates regularly with customers and technicians over the phone and radioREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degreeExperience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)OTHER REQUIREMENTSValid Driver licenseMinimum 1 year working experience in a material handling (baggage handling, material, warehouse, distribution center) environmentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSWarehouse Operations experienceConveyor services or material handling services experienceKNOWLEDGE-SKILLS-ABILITIES (COMPETENCIES)Ability to solve problems under pressureFlexibility with time, able to shift priorities quickly based on staff and system needsAbility to maintain overview in hectic environmentDecision making abilitySelf-reliantCustomer service orientedImmune to stressPOSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKFull time position; 24/7 operation; this is a rotating shift position that includes both days and nights.TRAVELThis position requires no travel.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTControl Room Operators/Dispatchers typically work in the control room, or route centers. Their work can be stressful because total concentration is required at all times. Night, weekend, and rotating shifts are common. The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job for investigations and watching system status include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This job is for the most part sedentary.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear through a handheld radio and telephone. The employee is frequently exposed to the baggage handling system, mechanical parts and vibration.
