Job Summary and Requirements This posting This posting is to fill (1) permanent position with Continuing Care at Alexander McDonald Lodge in Dawson City. It will also be used to establish a 12-month eligibility list, which may be used to fill future term and permanent vacancies.
The position is based in Dawson City , a vibrant and diverse northern community in the Yukon .

Alexander McDonald Lodge (AML) in Dawson City, YT is a 15-bed long-term care home that provides person-centered care to individuals who need varying levels of intermediate care support with daily living activities. Through responsiveness to each resident's uniqueness,
the Lodge creates a feeling of home and belonging for all who live there.
The Care and Community branch is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to take on a clinical leadership role. This position champions person-centred care while supervising, mentoring and guiding staff to deliver exceptional service that respects culture, dignity, and individual needs. The ideal candidate is a confident leader with strong clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, and a passion for teamwork, coaching, and continuous improvement. Current registration with YRNA or a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority
Considerable recent and relevant clinical nursing experience within the Registered Nurse scope of practice, including assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
Recent experience in a leadership or team coordination capacity (e.g., charge nurse, preceptor, mentoring, or acting supervisory roles)
Recent experience in a supervisory role that has provided supervision and participation in performance management processes is considered an asset
Experience providing care to seniors or adults in a long-term care setting is considered an asset
Experience in post-acute care environments may be considered an asset
Desired knowledge, skills and suitability If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:
Dedicated to providing the highest standard of resident care by way of your excellent clinical and assessment skills and your genuine desire to work with residents in long term care
Strong leadership skills with the ability to work with and lead a variety of disciplines in a team atmosphere
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
TB Screening (completed within the last 6 months)
RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months)
CRP Level C with AED (completed within the last 30 months)
Food Safe Certification
Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate (completed within the last 30 months)
WHMIS 2015
Current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association
