Quality Control / Shop Labourer

Prestige Railings & Stairs is looking for a reliable and motivated Quality Control / Shop Labourer to join our Edmonton team.

We are looking for someone who pays close attention to detail, enjoys working with wood and takes pride in the quality of the products they help produce. The ideal candidate will have basic carpentry skills, be comfortable using hand and power tools and be willing to learn.

For the right person, we offer training and the opportunity to advance into a railing installer position.

Duties Include

- Preparing and checking materials for outgoing installations
- Ensuring orders are complete and ready for installers
- Maintaining a clean, organized and secure shop
- Receiving, organizing and monitoring shop materials
- Ordering shop supplies as needed
- Delivering materials to job sites
- Completing quality-control inspections
- Assisting with job-site measurements
- Installing temporary railings when required
- Completing minor repairs and service work
- Assisting with wood, metal and glass railing installations as training progresses
- Assisting with custom stair installations
- Performing other related duties as assigned

Specific Responsibilities

- Safely operate machinery, equipment and tools used in the trade
- Read and interpret drawings, measurements and basic technical information
- Maintain a high standard of quality and craftsmanship




- Identify damaged, incorrect or missing materials before they are sent to site
- Complete assigned work accurately and within the required timelines
- Maintain a protected and clean working environment

Qualifications

- Basic carpentry skills and experience using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to measure accurately and work from drawings
- Dependable, organized and willing to learn
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to lift and handle construction materials
- Valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
- Previous experience in carpentry, construction, railings, stairs or cabinetry is preferred but not required
