Join Brock University as an Academic Advisor in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, dedicated to fostering student progression and success through tailored academic support. This role offers a hybrid working model, enhancing flexibility.
As an advisor reporting to the Dean’s Office, you’ll be responsible for guiding students in programs like Recreation and Leisure Studies. Your role includes applying academic policies, analyzing student performance, and developing intervention strategies for at-risk individuals. Collaborate with academic leadership and stakeholders to ensure operational excellence in student services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide tailored academic support to current and prospective students
• Evaluate and adjust academic plans in accordance with university policies
• Communicate complex academic regulations clearly to students
• Identify and intervene with at-risk students to enhance retention
• Participate in outreach and recruitment activities in the faculty
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Experience in a post-secondary academic advising role
• Familiarity with academic advising models and principles
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
